Do You Follow a Plan?

“Oh my God can I keep doing this?” I wondered to myself as I rubbed the early morning drowsiness from my eyes as I drove the 45 minutes to my satellite office in the sub-zero temperatures. “Where is this all headed?

create a plan

How long will I be doing this? Is there another way, a better way?” “Uggghhhhh, these questions are going to drive me crazy” I thought to myself as I entered the office full of concerns, questions and doubts! Not the most optimal state of mind to be in to serve my practice members is it? (Sound familiar anyone?)

As I reviewed this state of mind with my mentor /coach later that week he shared some advice that shifted my life and I hope will shift yours. “YOU NEED A PLAN!”

“He who fails to plan, plans to fail.” – Winston Churchill

Getting clarity about who you are and what you do is KEY TO DEVELOPING YOUR VISION AND THE SENSE OF MISSION OR PURPOSE THAT COMES FROM THAT.However WITHOUT A PLAN A VISION WHITHERS ON THE VINE INTO NOTHING MORE THAN AN UNFULFILLED DREAM!

Having a plan allows you to answer questions like;

  • o   How will I authentically serve the clients of my vision?o   Where will the new clients come from?

o   How big of a team do I need?

o   Where will I find my team?

o   How will I train and inspire my team?

o   How will I educate my clients?

o   What systems will I use to make it all flow?

o   How many hours will I work?

o   How many weeks holidays will I take?

o   Will I work on my own or with a partner or associate?

o   How many years will I work?

o   What is my exit strategy?

Who will I invite to assist me/guide me/mentor me?

If you already have the answers to these questions ….. CONGRATULATIONS …… you are in the minority and I would offer that you have a plan. I would recommend that you stay connected to your vision and your plan through regular review and editing as that is key to you staying connected to it and the passion and inspiration it can offer.

If you cannot answer all of these questions I highly recommend you set yourself a deadline in time and space to reflect on and answer these questions so you have a plan to support your vision. If you have a coach/advisor/guide I strongly suggest you brainstorm with them to develop these answers. Without them you are driving people away from your business with all of the noise in your subconscious mind you just don’t realize it.

CONCLUSION:

To wake up each morning inspired to fulfill your god given mission, you need VISION. To maintain this vision, and help it come to full fruition, you will need a plan. Find a coach/advisor that you resonate with and get a deadline for completion for your plan.

You will never regret time spent planning.
