We’re told that it’s normal to make mistakes, but it doesn’t get any easier when it happens. The thing is, depending on how you look at it, your mistake could turn out to be one of life’s greatest lessons. Let me explain what I mean…

Have a look at these tiles. If you look closer, you’ll see the glitter in them.

How did it happen? Well, I was laying the tile and my daughter knocked over a snow globe. The glass and glitter went everywhere along with some water and gel.

I cleaned it up and eventually sealed the tile, but there was still glitter everywhere.

The grout lines are supposed to be black, but as you can see, they’re white.

I keep looking at it and seeing the issues. I know it’s normal to make mistakes but every time I look at it, it bothers me.

But here’s the key takeaway. All of this is called experience. Experience is when you do something and you don’t like the outcome, so you learn from those mistakes.

If you make mistakes and learn from them, they can wind up being life’s greatest lessons.

With the tiles, I texted someone to help me fix the issue, but I wasn’t patient enough to wait for their response and then I went and did the wrong thing. So again, another life lesson from that!

When you accept that mistakes are inevitable and you’re willing to learn from them, you can course correct and you can adapt.
